# getAuthorityStatus

> Check whether a Swig authority change is already in place, without signing or submitting anything.

Quotes the change as `prepareTransaction` would, discards the quote, and
reads the orchestrator's answer: `applied` when the key is present with
exactly the requested permission (or gone, for a removal), `notApplied`
when the change is still to make, and `conflict` when the key is present
with another or unreadable permission. Only `applied` means ready.

The quote needs a configured owner able to manage authorities (`All` or
`ManageAuthority`). Under JWT auth it mints one sponsorship grant that is
never used. `notApplied` says nothing about an intent still in flight:
settle the original with `waitForExecution` or `getIntentStatus` first,
and never resubmit a change that may have landed.

Method on an account instance returned by [`createAccount`](/wallets/custom-signer/sdk-reference/rhinestone-sdk/create-account). Requires a standalone Solana account.

## Usage

```ts theme={null}
import { addEcdsaKey, solanaDevnet } from '@rhinestone/sdk/solana'
const enroll = {
  destination: {
    chain: solanaDevnet,
    authority: addEcdsaKey(recoveryPublicKey, { permission: 'manageAuthority' }),
  },
}
const { status } = await account.getAuthorityStatus(enroll)
if (status === 'notApplied') {
  const signed = await account.signTransaction(await account.prepareTransaction(enroll))
  await account.waitForExecution(await account.submitTransaction(signed))
}
```
